Take up GoZero Challenges
Find out how you can take effective action, earn points and unlock donations to biodiversity projects
GoZero challenges help you take individual actions and join collective efforts each month to reduce your impact on the planet. We need to redesign our lifestyles, economy and politics to put an end to the ecological collapse that is already taking place on Earth.
GoZero’s challenges aim to help you take and measure actions to reduce hyper-consumerism, waste, fossil fuel use, the destruction of habitats and biodiversity, microplastic pollution and the acidification of our oceans.
We started GoZero to help people and businesses take action on their greenhouse gas emissions, using Carbon Points to track emissions reductions.
However, reducing emissions is not enough, as we are facing a complex set of interconnected ecological crises, which requires a more holistic, systems approach. We are currently overshooting 6 of Earth’s 9 planetary boundaries, each of which, on it’s own, can result in ecological degradation that significantly threatens life on the planet.
Many technology-based solutions to the climate crisis can be effective at reducing carbon emissions, but in doing so place greater stress on Earth’s other systems, including through increasing the extraction of resources and land- and freshwater-use. This increase threatens ecosystems and biodiversity. We can’t simply swap technologies and keep consuming energy, resources, and goods at the same level, and expect improvements to what is, at its core, a set of crises driven by overconsumption. We can’t buy our way out of this predicament.
Additionally, individual actions are insufficient. We need to also engage in collective actions to steer our culture, politics and economy towards a new system that values people and planet over power and profit.
GoZero Challenges allow you to gain knowledge about these crises and engage in individual and collective actions that have been designed to address core aspects of the different ecological crises that we face, including: climate change, microplastic pollution, soil degradation, overuse of resources and habitat and biodiversity loss.
When you complete a challenge, you earn points, which help you to unlock donations to projects that support and regenerate nature and biodiversity. We believe that being able to track actions and work towards a goal each month, helps to generate sustained action and real impact.
